Key moment 1 - 1st day of University

Shancai is 18 years old and it is her first day of University. Her phone gets broken because a member of the "popular" group F4 stands on it after it gets pushed out of her hand because she is shoved by the girls taking photographs of F4. She then later asks what the big deal about these boys was and the girl describes them as good looking, wealthy and popular due to the first two descriptions. Daoming Si (a member of F4) says he doesn't care if he broke Shancais phone. This made me think about how Daoming Si and possibly all of F4 think they are above people and better than others because Daoming Si doesn't feel the need to buy Shancai a new phone even though he easily could because of his wealth.

Although, Shancai doesn't give up yet which led to Daoming Si just being mean and cruel as a result because he insists he is right in the situation and doesn't have to buy her a new phone. This then led me to understand that Daoming Si is stubborn and extremely rude and childish because he won't look at Shancais side of the situation because he somewhat "doesn't need her" because of how popular he is and looks down on Shancai and expects her to do what he says and that he doesn't have to suffer the consequences of his own actions.

Key moment 2 - Boat Scene

Shancai and her friend went away for vacation and decided to go out on his boat. As they went out on the boat they see F4 and Jing on an even bigger boat literally looking down on them on their smaller boat. At this scene I realised in the University they go to, it always seems to be the wealthy people are the more popular groups and how they all look down on everyone else and they think they are better than everyone for example F4. Daoming Si starts laughing when he sees the smaller boat and starts asking questions about the smaller boat in a mocking tone like "does it even go out to sea" and then said " so its a fishing boat?" in. a rude tone implying that it is worse than what it seemed like before.

I think Daoming Si thinks that the richer you are the more appealing will be to Shancai and he doesn't realise that Shancai isn't that shallow and is different from him and she just wants someone who is kind to her for example Lei.

Key moment 3 - Shancai meets Sis sister

Shancai attempts to save a woman from being hit by a cyclist and hurts her own hand in the process. The cyclist gets angry and Si's sister steps in and stands up for Shancai and helps her. Shancai reluctantly goes to Daoming Si's older sisters house not knowing the woman is his sister . Si's sister still insists on helping Shancai even though Shancai is trying to leave after realising she is in Si's house. Si's sister tells Shancai to stay and even though Shancai is uncomfortable she does. Think Shancai stays out of respect and does what Si's older sister says because she is older than her and looks up to her as a hard working business woman because she is wealthy and Shancai doesn't want to appear rude.

Si's older sister then insists on Shancai staying for dinner and Shancai does. Si's sister then puts a glass of wine in front of Shancai and waits for Shancai to drink from it which clearly Shancai seems hesitant and unsure but she still drinks it under the pressure of his sister watching because she sees his sister as above her and as someone who can give her orders.

Meteor Garden and Pride and Prejudice Comparative

Hierarchy 

The Hierarchy in Meteor Garden and Pride and Prejudice are very similar. They're both money related. In Meteor Garden Daoming Si and F4 were very popular due to their looks and wealth and everyone talked about how rich they were. 

Also at the beginning Daoming Si almost looked down on Shancai because she wasn’t as fortunate as him. We see this is Pride and Prejudice too when Darcy is proposing to Lizzie he talks about how she has no estate and how he thought that as a reason not to marry her. Aswell as when it came to marrying in Pride and Prejudice it was the richer the better for the most part because you would be set up for life, so then again the wealthy were put on a pedestal above everyone else.

In both stories the wealthy are also treated much better by the others parents such as Shancai parents knew who Daoming Si was and always were very insistent on Shancai dating him. We also see the same in Pride and Prejudice because Mrs.Bennet admires any man of wealth that could be a suiter to her daughters such as mr collins when Lizzie made it clear she didn't want to marry him just as Shancai made it clear she did not get along with Daoming Si at the start to her parents. But neither listened because they were blinded by how amazing this suiter could be due to their wealth thinking that is what happiness would be.
